world news

The political situation in Thailand is hot. The street protest are frequent and in recent days the demonstrators with a red shirt claimed a ultimatum to Prime Minister: dissolution of Parliament and new elections or bloodsheds. All the demonstrators support the ex Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra. I want to summarize his curriculum: in 2001 was closed down because of financial irregularities, in 2003 his struggle against drug trafficking was criticized by human right defenders, in 2006 was deposed by a golpe, in 2008 Thailand Supreme Court issues a warrant of arrest for Shinawatra and his wife for fraud.
Current Prime Minister Mr. Abhisit obviously responded with a curt no to request.
Mr. Abhisit has advocated free healthcare, a higher minimum wage, and free education, textbooks and milk for nursery-school children. He has also been a consistent campaigner against corruption.
